📜 My Story: The Intersection of Music, Art, and the Golden State
I’m Dan Seitzinger, a Singer/Songwriter, Musician, and multi-disciplinary Artist with roots deeply embedded in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area. For me, creativity is a cyclical process where the visual world constantly feeds the auditory one, and vice versa. I work fluidly across disciplines—from canvas to digital media, and from piano to recording console—always driven by the beauty I discover in the world around me.
🎶 The Journey into Song: Harmony, History, and Heart
My deep and enduring passion for music began in my formative years. I found immense joy and structure in my Jr. High and High School Choirs. These experiences weren’t just about singing; they were where I first learned the fundamentals of reading sheet music, harmony, and melody. I have truly fond memories of caroling during the holidays, spreading joy and finding my voice within the community.
A pivotal moment came when my High School Choir Teacher encouraged me to enter a local vocal competition. I was fortunate enough to win three awards that year: one “Excellent” and two “Superior” awards and medals. This early success fueled my commitment to musical excellence.
My musical foundation was further enriched by a diverse range of influences—from my parents and grandparents to friends and teachers—and a lifelong habit of listening to a wide spectrum of artists and genres. As a songwriter since the 1990s, I sing and play both Piano and Guitar. My writing preference is to craft rich, storytelling lyrics paired with robust vocal harmony. While I was a teenager in the 1980s, I hold a special affinity for the singer-songwriter era of the 1960s and 70s, whose honest, lyrical style heavily shapes my own work.
To refine my craft, I later pursued formal training, taking classes in Music Theory and Recording Engineering. This knowledge allows me to handle the entire creative process, from composing and writing lyrics to recording and polishing the final mix, ensuring every original song I release is a high-quality, professional piece of work.
🎨 The Visual Catalyst: Nature, Canvas, and Code
My life as a Digital Artist and Painter is inextricably linked to my music. Living in the Bay Area, right in the heart of Silicon Valley, I am surrounded by both inspiring natural beauty and cutting-edge technology. I embrace both traditional art media and modern digital tools to create.
My artistic journey starts with nature. I often take nature-walks with my camera, capturing the stunning beauty of California’s landscapes: the redwood forests, serene beaches, and dramatic waterscapes. This photography is more than just a hobby; it’s a crucial step in my creative workflow. These elements—whether a foggy forest or a sunset over the Pacific—directly inspire the visual themes of my paintings and, most importantly, the concepts and imagery in my song lyrics. I’ve written several songs that feature direct references to these natural elements.
The blend of being born, raised, and currently located in the SF Bay Area means I have ready access to the technological tools and infrastructure that enable a modern, hybrid approach to art and music creation. My creativity thrives at this unique intersection of nature, art, and innovation.
